She’s lifting heavier than ever.
Kelly Rowland doesn’t just sing anymore. She’s an actress. An entrepreneur. A mom to two sons—Titan, eleven, and Noah, five. She was pregnant with Noah when she landed the Women’s Health cover back in 2020. Look at her. Look at her now.
Four years pass fast. Especially during a global pandemic.
Rowland sat down with executive editor Abigail Cuffley on the latest Huddle episode. Not for the usual chatter. This is about sweat. It’s about mental survival. The pandemic broke things open for her. Or maybe just fixed what was broken. She started meditating. Praying more.
She started checking in with herself. Actually listening.
“You tired, girl. Put your feet up.”
Simple words. But she means them. She prioritized that peace. And she kept it.
Mornings now are sacred. Before the boys wake up. No rush. No chaos. She claims those hours for a clearer version of herself. A strategized version. That’s the version that deals with the day. That same morning time gets squeezed with workouts too. Her goals changed. Her weights changed with them.
She is partnering with Lysol on the HERE for Healthy Schools program. Quality time off grant. Sounds corporate maybe. But her message isn’t.
“I’m lifting heavier now.”
Used to think strength was just a vibe in her 20s. Cute. Then she turned thirty. Had a kid. Needed to hold him up. Literally and metaphorically. Now? HIIT. Boxing. Pilates. Stretching.
Why lift heavy at 45?
She wants to stand straight. No creaky knees. No “my this hurts, my that hurts.” It’s about evolution. Not decay. There is reverence in that shift. Respect for the machine that carries her through life.
The body as temple? Old saying. But Rowland gets it. We hear more in the episode. We also tackle “body recomp”—and why it’s such a nightmare to pull off.
